The Board of School Directors hosted a meeting at Mountain View Middle School on January 3, 2022 to vote on a revised Health and Safety Plan to deal with the changes in the COVID-19 virus in Central Pennsylvania. The biggest topic discussed at the meeting was the mandating of masks in Cumberland Valley School District buildings.

After voting, the board made the decision that the mandating of masks would be based on the amount of COVID-19 cases in each individual building. Regarding Cumberland Valley High School, if 2% or more of the student/staff population has tested positive for COVID-19 then masks will be mandatory until further notice.

The Board of School Directors made a timeline that explains all of the current and future changes that will be made for the CVSD School District. The decisions made will stay in place until further notice. These plans are as follows:

Transportation - Masks will be required for all students and staff that utilize CVSD transportation. This includes buses that transport to and from school, activity buses, school vans, and any vehicle used for school sporting events. This mandate will be in place until further notice.

Beginning January 4, 2022 - Masks will not be mandated in CVSD buildings for all activities that do not occur during school hours. This includes school sports, clubs, meetings, etc. that occur before or after school hours. This decision will be reassessed on January 17, 2022.

Beginning January 17, 2022 - Masks will not be mandated in Cumberland Valley buildings unless the population reaches 2% or more COVID-19 cases. If a CVSD building reaches the 2% limit, masks will be mandated until the COVID-19 cases fall under the limit.

After January 17, 2022 - Building case counts will be evaluated on a rolling 14-day basis. If a CVSD building exceeds the 2% limit at any point during the two week period, that building will return to a temporary mask mandate.
