Students and staff are marking their calendars in anticipation for the 17th annual Touch of The Valley silent auction and testing event on November 4th at Cumberland Valley High School. This year, the Eagle Foundation is throwing a Roaring 1920's Soirée as the theme of the night.
The money raised through the event is donated to school programs such as summer enrichment camps, learning grants, academic scholarships, school supplies, and more. Each year, the Eagle Foundation choses three lucky organizations to receive the money from the auction; this year the charity they chose is our very own Mini-THON in which all of the proceeds will go towards the total in March.
“I am so excited that the Eagle Foundation chose to benefit Mini-THON because the event can potentially raise over 40,000 for the organization which is a huge contribution that will make a huge difference in the children’s lives that we are fighting for,” Mini-Thon Overall Kendyl Swank said.
For those that would like to attend, advance tickets can be purchased for $30 per person person on the school website; tickets purchased the day of the event are $35 per person. Attendees get to sample delicious, high-end food and enjoy other activities at the festivity. In addition, the community also helped by donating their own items for the auction as long as they had filled out a form by October 16th and drop it off by November 3rd at the Foundation office. The items that have been auctioned off in past years include electronics, event tickets, and even autographs.
“It will truly be an unforgettable night with great entertainment for all ages, and it’s interesting because you really never know what items will be available to bid on so it’s gonna be a night full of surprises,” Technology chair Jess Strome said.
The event will also feature a variety of entertainment, including live music. In addition, the attendees should arrive with empty stomachs because there will be a multitude of food vendors giving out samples for the tasting portion of the event. There are a total of 32 restaurants participating including Black n’ Bleu, Buffalo Wild Wings, Bonefish Grill, Juice & Java, Duck Donuts, Chick-Fil-A, and more.
“This is a really exciting event because you get the chance to try out so many different types of food, while also potentially bidding on some of the items you like that you cannot get anywhere else for the value,” Communications chair Bianca Correll said.
For additional information about the event, anyone can contact the Foundation office; their contact information can be found on the school website. Students can even contact any of the members of the Mini-THON leadership team to learn more information. Be sure to come out for an unforgettable night to enjoy some great music and bid on some special prizes!
