Top 5 Thanksgiving Movies

This year nobody wants to sit around talking about politics or COVID-19. Why not pop in one these top five Thanksgiving movies? I guarantee they’ll leave everyone feeling grateful for their family, friends, freedom and health.
Coming in at number 5, we have,
Free Birds lasting an hour and 31 minutes. It has 20% rotten tomatoes giving it a 5.8/10 rating. This movie is about a turkey who was living a care-free life until he was recruited by another turkey for a history-changing mission. The two turkeys travel back in time in an attempt to prevent Thanksgiving from ever happening. Why? They need to save all future turkeys from becoming the favored centerpiece to every American household’s traditional Thanksgiving dinner. This animated movie is a comedy and suitable for young kids as well the entire family.
Coming in at number 4, we have,
Scent of a Woman lasting 2 hours and 37 minutes. It has 89% rotten tomatoes giving it a 8/10 rating. This movie is about a prep-school student named Charlie Simms, who is trying to earn enough money to pay for a trip back home for Christmas. He agrees to look after an irritable, depressed, blind, retired, US Army Lt. Colonel named Frank
Slade. Despite a rocky start and a very disruptive Thanksgiving meal, Charlie learns that the Colonel is a true gentleman who surprisingly has an old-fashioned respect for women. Charlie is at a point in his life where he needs a good role model and he finds it in the Colonel.
Coming in at number 3, we have,
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade lasting 2 hours and 8 minutes. It has 88% rotten tomatoes giving it a 8.2/10 rating. This movie is the third movie in the Indiana Jones series, but unlike other sequels, it is still full of edge-of-your-seat adventure and
action as Indiana Jones searches for his missing father in Italy in dangerous Nazi territory. This quest involves several death-defying events, and Indiana Jones only has a map with no names as his guide. This movie definitely drives home the importance of family and freedom as it
describes the sacrifices and risks it sometimes takes to save and protect the ones you love.
Coming in at number 2, we have
Back to the Future lasting an hour and 56 minutes. It has 96% rotten tomatoes giving it a 8.5/10 rating. This sci-fi comedy is about a 17 year old high school student, Marty McFly, who accidentally drives Doc Brown’s Delorean time machine from 1985 to 1955. While he is trapped in a different time space continuum, he accidentally messes up his parents' teenage relationship. Marty races against time to fix his parent’s relationship to ensure they fall back in love with one another. He also has to find and convince the young Doc Brown that he is from the future so that Doc can help him figure out a way to return to the future
where he belongs. This is another feel-good movie with a happy ending. Marty McFly successfully returns home feeling even more grateful for his imperfect family and life.
Coming in at number 1, we have
A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving lasting only 30 minutes. It has 100% rotten tomatoes giving it a 7.7/10 rating. This movie is about Charlie Brown and his friends. He hosts a Thanksgiving feast in his backyard and serves buttered toast, pretzels,
popcorn and jelly beans. Instead of being thankful, Peppermint Patty speaks up and ridicules Charlie Brown about the quality of the meal. Linus defends Charlie Brown and reminds everyone that the Thanksgiving feast isn’t the only important thing about the holiday; “it's about
being together and being thankful like the Pilgrims were.” The movie then has Charlie Brown and his friends re-enact the Mayflower voyage and all the challenges that the settlers faced back in 1620 when they traveled to the New World. This classic short film is perfect for the whole
family and my number one pick for Thanksgiving 2020.
Thanksgiving dinner might taste horrible, and the day may be filled with a little family drama, but we all need to be thankful for the time spent together, especially after this year’s pandemic.
