The holiday season brings many people a sense of joy and humility. Music is a large part of the holiday spirit; it adds words to our feelings.

Radio stations play holiday music all through December, and many times they start before Thanksgiving begins. One of the wonderful aspects of music is the many ways one can express themselves.

Freshman Joshua George said, “I listen to Christmas music because it makes me happy.”

Freshman Trevor Lindsay said, “Christmas Music gets me in a festive mood.”

The “festive mood,” often inspires people to give back to their community, be a better person, or just be happy.

Freshmen Kylie Bornman and Michelle Sayed agreed that Mariah Carey has a wonderful voice and they enjoy listening to her Christmas Music.

“I don’t celebrate Christmas, but when I hear a bop by Mariah on the radio, I can’t help but be overwhelmed with Christmas spirit,” Sayed said.

Bornman said, “Mariah’s songs are really uplifting.”

Many people enjoy Christmas and its music from a religious standpoint. After all, Christmas is the celebration of Jesus’ birth.

George said, “I like listening to ‘Mary Did You Know’ because it’s a religious song.”

Other people enjoy songs from their childhood. New Christmas songs are added, but none are really lost.

“I like ‘Jingle Bells,’” Lindsay said. “It’s a classic.”

A number of other students agreed that listening to songs from their childhood, such as “You’re A Mean One, Mr. Grinch” is part of the Christmas spirit.

Another popular song at the school includes, “Baby It’s Cold Outside.” Duets create a certain feeling of joy during the holidays.

“Little Drummer Boy,” “All I Want For Christmas is You,” “Feliz Navidad,” “Someday at Christmas,” “White Winter Hymnal,” and “Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire,” were popular choices, as well.

Christmas music sparks feelings in many people during the holiday season, and it excites everyone for the twenty-fifth.
