Various clubs at Cumberland Valley give students the opportunity to give back to the community, but few are as fun and involved as CV’s Red Cross Club. Senior Claire Stoner is president of this club which focuses on the volunteering aspect of giving back, much like CV Key Club.

“We do different fundraisers and volunteer in order to better the community,” Stoner said.

While the club is not small, it is shadowed by some of the larger clubs and committees that focus on similar things. Red Cross Club is important to the students and to the community and should be known to more students.

“It is important because we help people in need,” Stoner said. “For example, we raised almost $300 in order to buy gifts for people within the school district who are in need.”

There is no downside to joining the club.. Volunteering and contributing enables students to better themselves as well as bettering everyone around them.

“I recommend joining because you’re part of something bigger than yourself. It’s nice knowing you’re helping people in the community,” Stoner said.

Red Cross Club makes it easier for students to give back to their community, help others, and help themselves. The club only takes a minimal amount of time for the benefit of helping others. The club meets every 3rd Monday of the month and is still open to anybody to join. It’s the perfect way to make CV a better place.
