The 2019 regional trout season is open and anglers are getting prepared and ready to get out there and catch some trout. It all began Saturday, March 30th.

Marcus Schneck from Pennlive said the game commission will be stocking roughly 3.2 million trout to about 707 different streams and 127 lakes across PA. The trout that will be stocked will be 2.1 million rainbow trout, 440 thousand brook trout, and 640 thousand brown trout.

Along this these trout the commission will also be stocking these waters with 9,600 trophy size golden rainbow trout (Palomino), these fish will be averaging a weight of 1.5 pounds and a length of at least 14 inches.
  
To get ready for this much anticipated opening day of trout, many anglers are stocking up on their favorite lures and baits to catch these freshly stocked trout.

Junior Tyler Fritz said, “My favorite bait to use on first day of trout is yellow colored powerbait.”

Many others were saying that they enjoy using lures made my the Rapala Brand.

Junior Logan Ramper said, “My favorite bait for trout is the Rapala countdown Minnow lure.”

The other thing many anglers are doing is planning and scouting out the places where they will be fishing at on the opening day.

Fritz said, “This is one of the most important parts of Getting ready for the opening day.” this is important to anglers because looking for deep spots and slow current areas in the water.
