CV field hockey captain Jenna Herbster has led the team to a 6-1 start. She announced her commitment to The University of Massachusetts in early October last year, and was voted one of four captains for the 2022 team.

“We’ve done really well so far, we’ve been strong with high energy. There’s definitely more things to work on, but I’m really happy with the season so far,” Herbster said. “Communication is one thing we really need to work on, possession, passing, playing our game the whole game, continuing to keep the energy up throughout the whole game.”

When Herbster was voted captain she took a major leadership role. Herbster understands she has responsibility in helping fix what needs to be done to better the team.

“I need to bring even more energy, making sure we’re all communicating, making sure everyones on the same page,” Herbster said. “If we’re switching up formations I need to make sure everyone knows. Making sure there's movement and everyones giving 100% every game.”

Herbster is hoping to continue leading the team to another district championship appearance as they were District III runners up in 2021.

Herbster has high expectations for the rest of the season ahead because of the team's hard work ethic and high energy. The team has an chance of making it far in the postseason.
