CV Mini-THON held its annual Turkey Trot on Saturday, November 19th. Over 120 people (and one dog) gathered together at Mountain View Middle School at 9 AM to run the 5K race. With new Overalls for this year's Mini-THON, it is evident to see that they are all passionate about THON and what it means to them. The Overalls for the 22-23 school year are Jess Hutcheson, Kaleb Desso, and Emma Miller.

Hutcheson revealed that there were 124 participants in the event this year as well. Making sure that all future events for Mini-THON are successful and fun are very important to everyone who works behind the scenes for THON. She notes that the support they receive is a major help in this process.

“Overall the day was so amazing to see all of our planning and hard work pay off. It was great to see the leadership team and committee members working together whether that be setting up the balloon arch, working on registration, or holding up signs for the runners. It was also really special to see involvement from the community because it was a reminder that we have so many people supporting us and our journey,” Hutcheson said.

The change of the course for this year's Turkey Trot definitely changed the atmosphere. The new course allowed runners and walkers to go about their 5K without much difficulty and made it very enjoyable.

“Yes, this Turkey Trot did feel different. For starters, this is the first year we have done the trot at the mountain view and winding creek campus off of bali high road. This ended up being a huge success because it allowed people to walk or run without the rigorous hills of the CVHS course," Desso said. "The overall excitement and energy from the runners, committee members, and leadership team was definitely at an all time high because of the large amounts of people and great energy throughout the whole morning."

Going into the future, much more can be expected from this year's Mini-THON staff. They are constantly working to improve and display all of the events leading up to Mini- THON itself.

“We are holding our 100 Days until Mini-THON event on the 30th which is really exciting because we are getting closer to our main event. On the 30th we have a few special announcements that we will be posting to our social media accounts as well," Miller said. "Additionally, we are hosting our annual THON Factor in January with student participants and judges. In coordination with that we are going to start working on our Man Pageant in the coming weeks as well. We have a lot of work to do in the coming months but are so excited to see what we achieve FTK."

Only being a few months into the 22-23 school year, it is very clear to see the success CV Mini-THON is having already. The incredible overalls, chairs, and committee members that make it all possible are working to create a fun and enjoyable event this year.
