After being released on March 3, 2023, Creed lll emerged victorious at the box office with its impressive $58.7 million debut, setting a franchise record and becoming the biggest domestic opening for a sports movie ever.
Adonis Creed is thriving in both his professional and personal lives while continuing to rule the boxing world. He has stepped away from the ring to spend more time with his wife, daughter, and mother. With all this money, fame, and joy, he has nothing to worry about, but soon a situation arises.
After serving years in prison for trying to protect Adonis, Damian, a childhood friend and previous boxing prodigy, emerges hungry, ready to earn his chance in the ring against Adonis. Adonis initially thought he was done boxing for good, but quickly realizes that the gloves needed to be put back on after being disrespected by Damian.
The confrontation between the two ex-friends is more than just a brawl. Adonis must face Damian, a fighter with nothing to lose, in order to settle the score, risking his future and life in the process.
Although it wasn't the finest of the three Creed films, I felt this one was pretty terrific. The entire storyline, in which Adonis competed for the title against Damian, his childhood friend, was incredibly interesting, yet it felt way too condensed. Prior to the final fight, I believed there could have been more preparation.
The battle didn't really have me moving and engaged like the other two Creed films or the Rocky movies did either. The graphics and sounds that accompanied the fight were fantastic, and it was still a lot of fun to watch. I would unquestionably recommend seeing Creed ll, and I would rate it a 9/10.
