Mrs. Gustafson teaches hydrogen bonding in 10th grade Biology

Mrs. Gustafson entered her first year of teaching last year as a 10th grade biology teacher. Entering her second year she looks back on her beginning at CV.

“When I came to Cumberland Valley, I knew it was a very large school with a diverse population. So I was very excited,” Gustafson said. Prior to CV, she had only been at smaller schools, and was looking forward to the size of the student body.

In her opinion, those expectations were beyond exceeded, “Last year went really great. It was my first year at CV, my students were awesome!” Gustafson said. The students were definitely a highlight for her as she already misses them this year she Gustafson.

Officially teaching for the first time can be challenging for many, especially at Cumberland Valley. However, help from anyone can be useful, especially from the staff.

“From the moment I got to Cumberland Valley, the staff, they were always super welcoming to me, openly embraced me," Gustafson said. "They picked me up, carried me, helped me with anything that I needed along the way. They’ve always been extremely supportive and helpful.”

Outside of school, Mrs. Gustafson is involved with many extracurricular clubs and activities. She is the advisor for HOSA (Health, Occupation, Students Association), Creative Writing Club, and the Care Club which focuses on volunteer and outreach.

Mrs. Gustafson looks forward to what this year has to offer, “I think this year is gonna be a good year,” Gustafson said.
