Two new faces Elijah Sherman and Jaidyn Holmes are part of the new wave of freshmen this year at CV9 taking on challenges and obstacles as students and athletes. Both of these freshmen have earned pivotal roles on the varsity football team.

Sherman, who just played midget football last year, now starts at safety for the eagles. Jaidyn Holmes, who also just played midgets with Sherman, is currently in the linebacker rotation getting a lot of playing time. Both of these players have been doing a tremendous job adapting from the midget level to the varsity level.

Sherman and Holmes described the transition from midgets to varsity.

“The transition from the midget level to varsity has been a grind. It’s a real humbling experience and took me awhile to get comfortable,” Sherman said.

“For me the transition has been everything I expected it to be. Putting in nothing but my one hundred percent into everything I do and just have fun,” Holmes said.

Both guys were asked what has helped them adapt to the varsity level.

“The things that have helped me adapt the most to varsity football are my supporting teammates, they are always correcting me in the best way possible and help me play the best to my ability,” Holmes said.

“What helped me was the guys on and off the field keeping me in check and making sure I was in a position to makew the most out of the opportunity that I have earned,” Sherman said.

Elijah and Holmes both plan on having a good season and are ready for what’s to come this year.
