Students look forward to attending school musicals every year, whether they are well known stories
brought to life or broadway pieces with the original student twists.

Cumberland Valley students took a leap in the theater world beyond school as well, participating in "Seussical the Musical" at Allenberry Resort. The show was a huge success and had a full crowd each night.

The musical brought beloved Dr. Seuss characters to life, taking the audience into the worlds of Horton the Elephant, Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, the Whos, and more. The musical ran from February 16th to March 3rd; a Cumberland Valley senior, Sophie Wolfberg, took a leadership role as the main stage manager.

“Being the lead stage manager was one of the craziest and most exhilarating experiences of my theatre
career! Getting to help put my favorite books as a kid on stage was one of the coolest things,” Wolfberg
said.

“I needed to learn the show inside and out and really work on the timing for when I gave specific cues.
We had ten shows so it was a very long process, but the show was super exciting.”

CV students also took advantage of this opportunity to gain more singing, dancing, and acting experience
in front of an audience in preparation for the spring high school musical, “Nice Work If You Can Get It.”

“I wasn’t sure if I was going to get the part because there was a lot of competition within all the talent in our community, but I was ecstatic when I got offered a role as one of the Dr. Seuss characters,” senior Jacob Monn said.

“I was glad to be able to participate because I’m always looking for opportunities outside of school to better my performing skills.”

At Good Hope Middle School, the Good Hope Players are presenting Roald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach Jr. March 8th-10th. Protagonist James is sent to chop down his aunt’s old fruit tree when he finds a magical potion that grows a enormous peach. It rolls into the ocean, starting a tremendous journey with James discovering various mystical characters and running into trouble on the way.

The story is suitable for all audiences and a great way to spend time with the family, so be sure to visit the school website to order tickets.

The Eagle View middle school students will be performing The Music Man this coming spring. In this
play, a persuasive con man travels to a small city, collects money from the locals by convincing them that he is organizing a boy’s band. The plot takes a turn when he develops feelings for another character which leads him into a dilemma. The musical is full of laughs, love, and plot twists. It will be performed. March 16th-18th, so purchase tickets online on the school website before they sell out!

Students and staff are working hard to present quality shows to their peers, families, and the rest of the
community. Be sure to support their efforts by coming out and enjoying the magic of theater. For additional information, visit the school websites.
