New Features
The Apple AirPods Pro is the newest version of the AirPods and comes with several features that the first version lacked. The first difference is the cases. While the AirPods case is small, rounded “square,” the AirPods Pro case is shorter and wider. The overall look and feel are also different because the AirPods had a universal fit, but the AirPods Pro now has a customizable fit. It comes with 3 different silicone tips of various sizes that can be interchanged to accommodate ear size. The tail of the AirPods Pro is also shorter to eliminate discomfort below the ear. In addition, they are now sweat and water resistant. The position of the microphones has also changed. On the AirPods Pro, there is an outward facing microphone and an inward facing microphone. The purpose of these are to ensure noise cancelation and enhances transparency mode, which are the two new highlights of the AirPods Pro.

Noise Cancellation and Transparency Mode

Noise cancellation mode and transparency mode are two significant differences between the AirPods Pro and AirPods and is what increases the demand for these products. Noise cancellation mode takes the environmental sounds detected by the outward microphones and cancels them out, while in transparency mode, the external sounds are transmitted into the ear in order to hear them and the sound from the paired device. Transparency mode is especially essential because it solves the problem of being unable to hear others talking while listening to music. Noise cancellation mode provides focus for the individual by blocking out all surrounding sounds. To activate these modes, long press the AirPod Pros while in the ear to switch between transparency mode and noise cancellation mode. Another way is to use the control center on the phone and long pressing the volume to switch between the modes from there. This can be done on the Apple watch too.

Pairing, Battery Life, and Pricing
When pairing the AirPods Pro, it is a similar process to the AirPods. Turn on the bluetooth setting and wait for a pop up. For this, the only requirement is for the case to be near the device. After a few initial directions, the AirPods Pro will be connected. In terms of battery life, it is almost exactly the same. For listening time after one charge, the AirPods stand for 5 hours while the Airpods Pro stand for 4.5 hours. This slight difference may be due to the extra features which consume battery. As for listening time with the charging case, both provide more than 24 hours of battery life. The price range for the two versions is a difference of $100. The AirPods sell for a price between $130-$150 while AirPods Pro sell for $230-$250.

Are They Worth It?
If you are a current owner of AirPods and deciding whether or not to purchase the AirPods Pro, they are not worth the extra $250 because the only main differences are the noise cancelling mode and transparency mode which other bluetooth devices such as Bose noise cancelling headphones provide for a cheaper price. If you are deciding on whether to buy AirPods or AirPods Pro for the first time, purchasing the AirPods Pro is a better choice.
