Local pumpkin patch and farm Paulus Mt. Airy Orchards located at 522 E Mt Airy Rd are having their yearly pumpkin sales for the Halloween season. The farm, which was open even with COVID-19 restrictions in early spring, did not have the same type of business it had without the pandemic, but started to regain through the Summer and Fall.
“We had a bit of a drop from April-May when COVID was worse, but as summer came along and COVID was not as bad, business started to build up again,” Farm Store Cashier Tiffany said.
The farm had to make few but reasonable changes to its business. Like almost every business, the farm is requiring all of their customers to wear a mask. The farm also has hand sanitizer around so their customers stay clean and healthy as they visit. The registers have clear boards between the cashiers and customers to stay safe. The farm Most products are spaced out in the outdoors. It is still a place to bring your children and look at pumpkins and flowers and other products.
“Obviously we require masks for all customers and we have hand sanitizer and we also have shields at registers but nothing brand new,” Tiffany said.
The Paulus Mt. Airy Orchard farm did not make huge changes in their prices or business even with COVID-19, and is hoping for this Halloween to get business back to its fullest while ensuring customer safety.
