The  Boys Soccer Team beat Carlisle High School in the first round of the PIAA District 3 Playoffs 3-0. The boys took on the Herd Tuesday night at Eagle View Stadium.

The boys had finished with a regular season record of 9-4-3 and 7-3-2 in conference play. They had just come off a disappointing tie against Carlisle on their senior night to end the regular season. The boys understood they would need to perform better facing off the same team in a single elimination playoff game.

“We couldn’t capitalize a win against them on our senior night, so we knew we had to go harder at them tonight if we wanted to win,” Junior Kaleb Desso said.

The game was even 0-0 at halftime. It was a back and forth first half with scoring chances by both teams. Carlisle were showing that they wanted this game. Halftime is over and the Eagles make tactical adjustments to help them attack Carlisle’s goal and still hold them to no opportunities of their own. It seemed to work as Cumberland Valley got three junior goals by Grant Gerstner, Jayson McGaffin, and Andrew Duncan. All three goals lifted electric energy through the stadium as the team was hype after every goal. The boys went into the second half and owned every moment taking that 3-0 win.

“The energy from the team after every goal lifted every one to keep going and keep adding on. The fans and stadium were electric for us and we are just glad to get this big home win,” Senior Alex Dick said.

The boys will travel to Warwick High School in Lancaster Saturday night at 7:00 p.m.. Being the away team in a playoff atmosphere can be tough for many teams, but these boys are going to charge in with full confidence going through it all this season. A win will put the boys into the State Playoffs, as they can then go for both a district title and state championship.
