CV's Competitive Cheer team competed in the 3A Small Squad championships on January 28 in Hershey, scoring 92.03 points to take the state title. This is the sixth PIAA Championship for the program.

And the team is "Not Done Yet." They will compete in the National High School Cheerleading Championship in Orlando, Florida, February 9-11.

“We’ve really been practicing at our two routines, but we focused more on our traditional routine for states, running it full out multiple times at practice,” Senior Sophia Lisbinski says.

To win the state championship, the team balanced rigorous practices with team building and special events to build their bond and confidence. On the 25th, the girls put on a special showcase for their parents before the official competition day. The next day, they shared a team dinner at Olive Garden where they received gifts and words of encouragement.

On Saturday, they competed for the state title and won.

“Everyone was crying. We were all crying, even if it was little tears. We worked so hard for it,” says Lisbinski.

After States, the girls will move on to perform their game day and traditional routines at the ESPN Sports Center in Orlando.

The question is, will the routine that just won them PIAA gold be enough to bring home a national title?

“We’ve been practicing how we will be performing at nationals, redoing multiple reps of the same routines that we’ll do. We’ll perform the routine four times,” Lisbinski adds.

To watch the team compete, the event will be streamed from the 9th through the 11th on any ESPN channel.
