Cultural Night is an event where people of different cultures learn about other ethnicities. It took place at Silver Spring Elementary School on Wednesday, September 25th. Silver Spring’s gym housed different countries' flags, clothes, and food.

Mrs. Laura Jones, a teacher at Silver Spring, was one of the Cultural Night organizers.

“The intention of the night was to bring all cultures together for a night of sharing, laughing and making connections," Jones said. "It is our hope that this night also helps all the families at our school and in the community know their culture has a place here and is important and valued."

There were many displays of cultural items around the gym and performances also exhibited cultural messages at Cultural Night.

“The night included food samples, music, dancing, martial arts and displays from 13 different countries,” Jones said.

This was the second time this took place, but it won’t be the last.

“This was our second year, and we plan to hold the event in January next year,” Jones said.
