A new club called Let Her Learn was introduced by its president, Athena Apaga. The initiative for this club is to both locally and globally get more women involved in STEM, and also give women the opportunity to access education. The club connects young women and people identifying as a gender minority by providing mentorship, advocacy, and outreach opportunities.

“I decided to start this club because the gender bridge in education is evident, and I think it is super important for women to be involved in STEM as much as anyone else. When I heard about the LetHerLearn Organization I wanted to work with them and begin a division at CV,” Junior Athena Apaga said.

Currently, the club has 60 members and they are focused on spreading the word and raising awareness towards the cause through social awareness events and service projects. These events focus on advocacy (addressing social issues), as well as fundraising.

“This year our goal is to focus on promoting STEM courses throughout the school, and also maybe throughout the district. We also want to get involved with the local women’s organizations, such as the YWCA” Apaga said.

This club is working as a chapter of the LetHerLearn Organization and if you are interested in joining students can talk to the club advisor, Mrs. Doody, or email Athena @[email protected] with any further questions.
