Special Events Chairs Prepare Mini-THON Tailgate

In efforts to raise money for pediatric cancer, CV Mini-THON’s Special Events chairs are hosting a fun, family-friendly tailgate taking place outside Chapman Stadium from 5-7 p.m. before the home football game versus Coatesville on September 6th.
The tailgate is one of the main events that the Special Events committee is responsible for, so chairs Olivia Seeber and Courtney Staton have been working diligently to ensure that it runs smoothly. The two seniors have began planning the event by contacting staff throughout the district and gaining their support towards the event.
“We are in the process of contacting staff members to get them involved in the event. Specifically, we have been in contact with staff members who may want to volunteer for the annual pie-in-the-face game,” Seeber said.
Gaining the support of the FFA has also been a priority. “The AG Program has been generous enough to help us with setting up a petting zoo,” Staton said.
The annual “pie-in-the-face” game and the petting zoo are just two of the many activities at the tailgate. Seeber and Staton have organized many other games that will put a smile on the faces of the CV community.
“The games at the tailgate are typically geared towards the younger crowd, like elementary students,” Staton said. “Games include the baseball throw, baby plinko, big plinko, duck pool, and frisbee throw.”
Aside from the games, Seeber and Staton have been directing the rest of the leadership team to coordinate the efforts of all committees for this event.
“Courtney and I have been working with the rest of the leadership team to make sure everyone’s committees have everything prepared for the event, and that everyone’s job is getting done,” Seeber said.
People across the CV community, including THON member, parents, and teachers are collaborating to ensure that this much-anticipated event is a success.
