CV Mini-THON Sees Success in Annual Tailgate and Golf Outing

CV Mini-THON held their annual football game tailgate at Chapman field on Friday, September 21. Activities ranged from fair games, face painting, a petting zoo, and the paint war. The game was also a gold out for the second year in a row.
Senior Emily Bowman said, “Our tailgate was very successful this year, we had plenty of games that children of all ages were able to enjoy.”
Despite the questionable overcast weather, many families came out to enjoy the evening’s activities. Many high school students also took part in the paint war. The paint war is where students purchase bottles of red, black, or white paint to throw at one another before sitting in the student section at the football game.
“Our paint war did exceptionally well, with all the paint selling out in record time” Bowman said.
There was also a variety of delicious food offered at the tailgate including homemade mac and cheese, walking tacos, pizza, baked goods, and more.
“Overall, it was the perfect event to start off the weekend and be the first CV Mini-THON
fundraiser of the year” Bowman said.
The weekend continued on Sunday 23 with the fourth annual golf outing at Rich Valley Golf Course. Over 60 golfers participated in this event and competed as foursomes. The four competitions throughout the course were Longest Drive, Closest to the Pin, and two Pots of Gold. The first and second place foursomes were also awarded prizes for having the best overall scores of 60 and 61.
“The day was a true success and helped bring more awareness for pediatric cancer,” Bowman said.
The next upcoming CV Mini-THON event is the Turkey Trot 5k. This will be replacing the
Color Run which had been held for the past two years. The Turkey Trot is at Cumberland Valley High School and will be held November 7.
