Fans of football are starting their fantasy football drafts as the NFL season begins. Apps like ESPN, Yahoo and NFL.com are free and offer fantasy football for anyone who wants to start or join a league. Teachers and students of Cumberland Valley prepare for the fantasy football upcoming season. They will draft until the first game of the season online or in person.

There are different draft formats from which leagues can pick. One of them is a snake draft were league members draft in a specific order. The other type of draft is an auction draft. In an auction draft, members have a certain amount of dollars in their bank, and people will bid on players until no one offers a higher amount of money.

Also, there are different league point systems. The most common league types are PPR(Point Per Reception) and Standard. They are similar, but in PPR, players get a point for each reception. In keeper leagues, participants keep one player from the previous season. Two quarterback leagues have two quarterbacks starting in the lineup.

Before any fantasy football draft, participants must be aware of the top players. Running back Saqoun Barkley is widely agreed on as the top fantasy football player for this season. He will likely be drafted first in any league format. The top rated fantasy quarterback for this season is Patrick Mahomes. The Kansas City Chief Quarterback broke out last year and is now taken in the first few rounds of drafts. Deandre Hopkins of the Houston Texans is the best WR on almost every fantasy football website. The top TE in most rankings is Kansas City Chiefs Travis Kelce.

With the start of this season, some players are injured and some of them will not play at all this season. Star players that will miss time this season because of injuries include RB Lamar Miller (Houston Texans) and WR A.J. Green (Cincinnati Bengals). Some players continue to hold out and will not play until the team gives them a larger salary. Elite players holding out include Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliot and Los Angeles Chargers RB Melvin Gordon. There are also key players who are suspended. WR Golden Tate (New York Giants), RB Kareem Hunt (Cleveland Browns), and TE Chris Herndon (New York Jets) are all suspended for a few games at the beginning of the season.

Recently there was shocking news that star QB Andrew Luck retired. He was drafted by some fantasy football league members thinking he would start for their team. His retirement was unexpected at the age of 29.

Before anyone has their draft, they must be aware of what is happening around the league to make the best decisions for the fantasy football season.
