Taylor Swift announed her United States Eras Tour in 2023. Many fans wanted to attend this concert because it is believed to be her last tour. Ticketmaster released the presale for the tickets on November 15 at 10 am est and was sold out within hours. More tickets were sold than planned and Ticketmaster canceled their general admission sale leaving thousands of fans devastated. Many Cumberland Valley students participated in the presale in an attempt to get tickets.

Senior Emma Miller was one of the fans who was able to get tickets. “I knew a tour announcement was coming so I made sure my Ticketmaster account was paired with the same email I use on Taylor’s website. Once the tour was announced I registered for verified fans and saved my payment information to my Ticketmaster for a smooth checkout process,” Miller said. “I was lucky enough to receive a presale code the night before the presale so I was really happy about that. I also got an email from TaylorNation saying my spot in line would be boosted since I bought merchandise but I don’t think it helped much. On the day of the presale I made sure I only had one tab open and was on about thirty minutes before the sale started.”

Senior Sydney Wellman was prepared to spend a lot of money on her tickets. “I was willing to spend $500 but ended up paying $480 which is not much better”

The sale itself was a mess for people around the country with ticketmaster crashing multiple times. “The ticket sale was a disaster. I waited over 4 hours to purchase nosebleed tickets and it was so stressful that I couldn’t take my time and pick a seat I really wanted," Miller said. "Also, the fees on Ticketmaster are insane. I paid over $100 in fees. I feel bad for fans who got the presale code and kept getting kicked out. It was really unorganized and a stressful day for a lot of fans.”

Miller and Wellman are both attending Taylor’s concert in Philadelphia one being on May 12th and the other on the 13th. They will finally get to see if all of the work put into the sale was worth their time and money.
