For the first time ever, CV hired its very own strength coaches coming into the 2023 school year. Alijah Burno and Jason Schoonover will train CV student athletes in nearly every sport.

Burno previously worked with Susquehanna township and was a personal trainer for about four years.

Burno said, ”This is such a huge high school: 26 varsity sports, lot of great athletes, some who can compete at a high level, I have seen nothing but great things.”

Schoonover is entering his thirteenth year as an athletic trainer, the last six of those spent at Eastern York High School.

Schoonover said, “I am very excited to work with the administrators, coaches, and athletes at CV. There is a reputation with athletics here that success and hard work is a culture.”

Burno explained how he not only wants the kids he works with to be bigger, faster, stronger but also get the most out of sports no matter if they just want to play in high school or if they want to play at the next level.

Schoonover said he wants to focus on long term health for when the athletes’ athletic careers are over. ]

“I try to educate athletes on the why behind what Alijah and I are doing so they can take these techniques well into their adult years.”

Burno has observed leadership, hard work, and dedication throughout every team. Schoonover was apprehensive at first about coming into CV because of a lack of trust and rapport with the athletes, but he said, “I've been surprised that a lot of athletes already have a natural trust with us, which has helped make this program start more efficiently.”
