Joy’s grill and burger house located in the small strip mall on the Carlisle Pike along with a Philly pretzel factory has a sit down or bar seating options to choose from a variety of breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. They have a good sized menu with 10 oz burgers ($12.99), fried chicken, sandwiches, salads, and many other goodies. A downside for those who have a sweet tooth like us is they don’t offer any desserts. They stay open every day of the week from 7AM- 8PM.

I thought that the location of Joy’s Bar and Grill was a little hard to find. If you are going too fast then you might miss the turn. The atmosphere outside the restaurant was homey. It was a small place, but it gave me the feeling of comfort. The inside of the restaurant was bright and small. Obviously with just starting out you’re not going to have a big place, but I don't recommend bringing a huge party of people. The workers in Joy’s Bar and Grill were very kind, and always made sure that we had everything we needed even though they had very little staff there. The food was very well prepared and cooked. I got the Pulled Pork Bbq sandwich which was very tasty. The bun was a sesame bun that was toasted on the grill which gave it a crunch when you would bite into it. I would rate the Pulled Pork Bbq sandwich a 8.3/10. The meal came with fries which were long cut and fried. They were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I thought that they lacked some seasoning though. I would rate the fries a 7.6/10.

I liked the small shop right there with others next to it, and the workers had great customer service. Since we sat at the bar it was nice to see the food get prepared in front of you, but I also like seeing it for the first time when they bring it out. I got the memphis burger, a 10 oz fresh burger topped with pork bbq, an onion ring, melted cheddar, lettuce, tomato and LA sauce. The size of the burger was definitely overwhelming and made it a challenge to bite, but I really enjoyed the different style of having an onion ring and pulled pork on top. My burger came out in good timing and the fries were long cut, but needed some additional salt. Overall I would rate the burger a 8.5/10 and the fries a 7.7/10.

Overall I loved the location and atmosphere of Joy's Grill and Burger House. The location was very nice for a small, family owned restaurant. There were very friendly workers that greeted you as you came in. One downside from my opinion is that he cooks in front of you. Some people may love this, but I like the element of surprise as they bring out your food. I had a 4 piece fried chicken dinner with 2 thighs and 2 drumsticks. The chicken came out very hot as expected, but surprised me with how good it was at a burger shop. My chicken took about 7 minutes longer than the other boys burgers to come out, but the server communicated that with me. I would rate the fried chicken a 8.3/10.
