After a very successful season last year, placing first in District III and continuing on to the state semi-finals, the Cumberland Valley Softball Team continues to work in the off season to get better. The Eagles are going full tilt five days a week, with lifts on Monday and Wednesday and practices on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at Cumberland Valley High School.

“Our practices consist of mostly hitting and conditioning work,” Senior Emma Morgan said.

“We have an amazing hitting coach (Randy Kinsey) who works with us to get better everyday, in both the physical and mental game of hitting,” Morgan said.

Having had so much success last year causes a lot of anticipation towards the upcoming season for the Eagles. The girls finished 18-5 last season, ending on a tough loss in the state semi-final game to Hempfield Area High School.

“Our team dynamic last year was amazing, it had a family feel which is something I’ve never experienced before. But, this is a new season. Our coaches make sure that we know not to base our success last year on this year, and that we still have to work hard, if not harder,” Morgan said.

“We continue to work as hard as we can every practice. This is the first year we’ve ever lifted as a team and it will definitely help the team to get stronger,” Morgan said.

The Eagles are certainly looking forward to the upcoming season, working hard to ensure their success continues.
