Both Cumberland Valley basketball teams had big comeback seasons. The boys made the District III tournament for the first time since 2015 and qualified for states. The girls have been the team to beat for several years but last season was a drop off for them. They came back this year and won the Commonwealth and claimed the one seed in District III.

The boys team came out with a surprising 11-1 start to the season. They ended the season with a tough stretch of games and ended up with the ninth seed in the District tournament. They traveled to Waynesboro and squeezed out the win with a 55-52 game in the first round.

They then had to go to the one seeded Wilson where they kept themselves in it the whole game but ended in a tough 60-53 loss. February 26 they played the fourth seed, Cedar Crest. The winner clinched a spot in the PIAA state tournament and the Eagles took the win behind senior Ethan Levis’s 27 points. They dropped the fifth place game against Manheim Township, and will travel to Philadelphia for round one of states next week.

The Lady Eagles got a first round bye in Districts and then beat Harrisburg 50-43 in round two. They hosted rival Central Dauphin in the semifinals in what was a hard fought battle from start to finish. The Eagles were down early but adjusted at halftime t and controlled the second half. Sophomore Julie Jekot hit a pair of big threes in the fourth to seal the deal in a 39-33 CV win.

Next up for them is Dallastown in the District III Championship in Reading. The girls are looking to make a big push in states following the District Championship game.
