As the 2019-2020 regular season winds down, the girl’s reflect on this season's accomplishments and look forward to the upcoming playoffs. The team this year has an overall record of 16-3, and an in-conference record of 13-2. This places them at the number 2 rank in their district and just shy of qualifying for the Mid Penn Tournament.

Although they did not qualify for the Mid Penns, they are still looking at a first round bye and a home game in the second round of the District Playoffs.

This regular season for the girls was a very successful and eventful one to say the least.

“This year was the most fun season for me yet, since we got to go to California in December, and also have a strong record which creates opportunity for a great playoff run” junior guard Julie Jekot said.

The girls got off to a quick start this regular season, winning their first three games before making the cross-country trip to California. There, they went 2-1 in the Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions, with only a loss to Camarillo High School with a final score of 48-66.

However, this loss would not slow the Eagles down at all. They went on to only lose to more games until this point in the season.

“I am nothing but proud of what we’ve accomplished so far this season, it feels great to be winning, and having fun doing it” junior forward Abbie Miller said.

Although the girls have been red hot recently, they have unfortunately lost a key part of their team for the remainder of the season due to injury. Senior forward Hanna Sauve went down last week with a leg injury, forcing her to sit the rest of her senior season. This serves as a tough blow for the team as Sauve was a huge defensive threat and a great weapon on offense, averaging 7.2 points per game and 3.6 offensive rebounds.

“The team is devastated over Hanna’s injury and the only thing we can do is hope for her to have a speedy, healthy recovery. But I’m very confident in the team to come together to fill in for her absence and work as one team,” Jekot said.

With districts starting in two weeks, the girls look forward to doing as much preparation as possible to ensure that they are surely ready for the playoffs.

Next week they intend to scrimmage McDevitt and Susquehanna Township. They hope to find out their opponent for districts after the first round, with the nice perk of having second round home court advantage, as they look on to make yet another historic playoff run and hopefully win states yet again.
